I have been a soccer coach, referee and instructor/mentor for the better part of the past 25 years. After coaching my boys in recreational soccer, early in their growth, I decided to continue as a referee. I have refereed at all levels of the game, and I quite enjoy the challenge. But mostly, I love the interaction with players from adult to select to advanced and high school age and skill levels.
Soccer is “a beautiful game” and being in the middle allows me to encourage players to be their best as players and as human beings behaving kindly and helpful to each other and enjoying their time on the pitch.
In this web site we will be sharing nuggets of experience and helpful hints to experienced and young and up and coming referees. It’s been said that young referees get discouraged by the behavior of some coaches and parents; this is understandable but in life there are many disappointments our hope is to encourage young referees to learn and grow from the experience and not quit.
Reach out to me if you have questions, explanation of the laws of the game and what are the best ways to handle difficult situation on or off the pitch.
